    Places of encounter shape democratic life in different ways. Within the framework of the seminar and transnational exchange between Luxembourg and Kaiserslautern, students explored how such spaces can be identified, captured, and valorized. The resulting tools and toolbox highlight the potential to activate encounter spaces as spatial and civic resources within the Greater Region.

    The seminar emerged within the framework of the University of the Greater Region. Amid a shift in urban identity, social fragmentation, and vacant buildings in Kaiserslautern and Esch, the students are given the task to rethink how these changes can be transformed. The seminar explores encounters as spatial practices that shape democratic life.

    The seminar Encounters in the Greater Region is dedicated to creating new places for exchange and social cohesion in a transnational context. The focus is on strategies for reactivating vacant properties, making intangible urban resources visible, and developing a shared digital platform. This platform is intended to serve as an open toolbox, making innovative urban development instruments accessible and usable at the local, regional, and international levels.

  • FRAME

    The UniGR Visiting Professorship is a funding format for members of the UniGR partner universities that supports cross-border research and academic exchange through a two-month stay at a partner university.
    The goal is to initiate sustainable research collaborations, promote encounters in the Greater Region, and strengthen the visibility of UniGR as a European scientific actor.
