Vision – Wien

Raumgestalt und Entwerfen
Dipl.-Ing. Viyaleta Zhurava
Begin:
30.4.2024, 12:00 Uhr
Place:
Bau 1, Raum 1 - 102
Together with interested parties, we will transport ourselves to the metropolis of 20th century Vienna: „Red Vienna“ of the 1920s, international modernism and reconstruction of the 1950s, visionary architecture of the 1960s and 1970s, etc. Masterpieces by world-famous architects such as Hermann Czech, Karl Ehn, Coop Himmelb(l)au, Josef Frank, Hans Hollein, Adolf Loos, Walter Pichler, Jože Plečnik, Gottfried Semper, Margarete Schütte-Lihotzky and Otto Wagner accompany us on this journey. The built world can be seen as a mirror of human desire, meaning both necessity and longing.
The idea of the seminar is to analyse the historical and socio-cultural connections, ruptures, continuities and syntheses in Viennese architecture. To this end, we will methodically examine, describe and analyse remarkable architectural artefacts in order to track down the underlying concepts, forms and types. We will use various tools such as drawings, metaphors and models to decipher visions and complex phenomena. The course takes place fortnightly. Group work is encouraged.
