The “Book Club” seminar accompanies the “History of Architecture” lecture and requires regular attendance and active participation.
The seminar focuses on reading and analyzing a text, as well as on creating an “Diary of Architectural History” in which the lecture content is continuously documented in the form of notes and further reflections. The weekly “Book Club” seminar introduces students to in-depth reading of academic texts. With the goal of developing a critical perspective despite the complexity of the subject matter, we will read a classic text on modern architectural theory and history together during the semester.

The “Diary of Architectural History” compiles lecture notes, notes, and drawings covering the entire semester’s content and can delve deeper into specific aspects or self-selected topics. The goal is not merely to reproduce the lecture material but to critically question it, examine it independently, summarize it, and analyze it. Both original texts and self-created images can be incorporated into the journal. Through the regular documentation of lecture content, supplementary literature research, and individual observations, a dynamic journal emerges that grows and evolves over the course of the entire semester.
