IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO THINK ABOUT THE HUMAN WITHOUT THINKING ABOUT NATURE. This also applies to human creativity, to téchne, i.e. art and architecture. With this in mind, in the summer term 2024 we will be looking at questions of PHILOSOPHY OF NATURE for the second time. In addition to an introduction to the foundations of the philosophy of nature and key positions (Plato, Aristotle, Heidegger, philosophical anthropology), there will be a focus on POLITICAL ECOLOGY and POSTHUMANISM, i.e. more-than-human perspectives on the nature of urban environments. Specific topics include: The concept of mímesis; ecological aesthetics; nature in cities; environmental ethics incl. animal and plant ethics; cohabitation; new materialisms (Bruno Latour, Donna Harraway et al.).
The seminar is aimed at all students who would like to further develop their CONEPTUAL APPROACH; familiarise themselves with CURRENT DISCOURSES; develop skills and ANALYTICAL TOOLS that will help them to better reflect on architecture in the context of the Anthropocene. No prior knowledge is required. What is required is an interest in reading and philosophy. As part of the seminar, participants will analyse short texts or text excerpts and present them to the group, which we will then discuss together. Guest lectures and film screenings in the evening will provide more points for discussion. START: 23/04, 13h45
. ROOM: buidling 1, room 01-U62 /// Registration through KIS. Further information will then be sent by e-mail or posted at: https://fglandschaft.wordpress.com/
