With KO/OP, the cooperative design series of the Mittelbau at fatuk will begin in SS26. Through the collaboration of all academic staff, intensive supervision across different disciplines is intended to be made possible. The diverse requirements of the individual departments are meant to enrich the design projects, while strengthening discourse. Joint meetings will take place (ir)regularly in Room 007, which will be occupied as a design laboratory throughout the entire semester. Participating staff: Friedrich Brox, Maurice Denechaud, Daniel Groß, Paula Kaminski, Tobias Kohlstruck, Konrad Peter, Pascal Richter, Dorota Rudowicz, Viktoria Schabert, Nicolas Treitz, Tobias Vogel, Immanuel Zeh
In recent years, numerous large-scale investor-driven projects in Germany have been halted. Half-finished shell structures and abandoned plots remain as monuments to profit-driven development and increasingly shape the urban landscape. We take over! This semester, the existing built environment is to be understood as potential. These vacant sites will serve as the starting point for new, sustainable strategies: social spaces for living, working, and coexisting that prioritize the common good rather than financial return. Due to the extensive scope of the task and the experimental nature of the studio, we do not recommend participation for students in their first semester of the master’s program.
