The elective module is held in the 6th (or 8th) semester of the Bachelor’s programme and consists of a lecture and supplementary assignments. PRIOR REGISTRATION takes place via KIS. The lecture is at the same time a compulsory part of Studio II (no registration necessary). The course is designed as a systematic introduction to the field of landscape architecture, starting with basic concepts such as typology of open spaces or the concept of landscape itself. The course will cover everything from the social significance of public open spaces to the spatial qualities of specific locations. In the process, exemplary design tools of landscape architecture are repeatedly addressed.
The course thus provides an initial overview of the field of practice, current discourses and influential projects of recent decades and the present. Proof of performance is provided through several tasks, including a Pecha Kucha presentation on a selected project.
