The lecture focuses on important concepts in architectural theory. As instruments of reflection, the disciplines of architectural theory and history examine the cultural and socio-political backgrounds, mechanisms, and structures that influence the creation and reception of architecture. Architectural theory and history deal with the intentions, attitudes, and worldviews that are inscribed in architectural design and justify the actions of architects. As a ‘theoretical practice’, architectural theory is also a prospective discipline that promotes analytical, synthetic, and critical thinking.
