Architekturgeschichte I

The chair ARCHITECTURE – THEORY – HISTORY not only looks back, but also acts in the present. This approach requires architecture to be viewed as a social practice that has a responsibility to develop its potential discursively and operationally. The critical framework for reflection in the disciplines of architectural theory and architectural history lies at the interface between theory and practice, history and the present. Seen in this light, architectural theory and history take a retrospective approach by establishing the backgrounds, intentions, and structures inherent in architectural design, as well as actions in architecture, examining them historically and systematically, and revealing their content.
