It is a typical scene in Kaiserslautern: a gap between buildings is occupied by a temporary structure. A garage, a shed, a workshop, often slightly set back from the street, are hidden between the residential buildings of the old town. Many of these buildings have not been used for a long time and now serve as storage space at best. But how much potential is there in these forgotten places?
We have the key to one such property and are allowed to do what we want.

In a collective effort, we would like to make the vacant building usable again. We will take a close look at the existing building and draw up a detailed survey of the building. Together we will develop a suitable spatial programme for future use and we will consider in detail (1:1) what measures are necessary to make the building usable again. There are no specifications, but the measures must be appropriate and ecologically sensible. The approach can also be experimental; found materials can be reused or supplemented with other recycled and/or renewable materials. As part of the research at the university, the results of the work should leave familiar paths of „redevelopment“ and show creative solutions.
