WAIT-LAB Summer School
The Department of Architecture at RPTU (fatuk) is dedicated to the forward-looking education of architects and regards the integration of theory, research and practice as a central component of its teaching.
The t-lab, a research-oriented initiative within fatuk, explores new approaches to building with timber – with a focus on reversible joints, digital fabrication and regional material cycles. The aim is to actively help shape the transformation of the building industry: ecologically, circularly and in a resource-efficient manner.
In the immediate vicinity of the t-lab’s research hall lies Villa Denis and its guest house, which serve as a conference centre and cultural meeting place for the RPTU.
Students from all European architecture faculties are invited to take part.
As part of the design competition, followed by a design-build project in the Palatinate Forest, the brief is to design a climbing tower for goats at this remote, unspoilt location adjacent to the new t-lab research hall, which offers ideal conditions for planning, prefabrication and construction:
To improve connectivity, particularly for larger events, the competition aims to create a space for visitors that protects them from the weather whilst waiting for a bus, taxi or carpool, where they can find out about the Diemersteiner Valley and the t-lab, or park and charge their bicycles.
