{"id":765,"date":"2024-05-04T17:34:38","date_gmt":"2024-05-04T15:34:38","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.fatuk.de\/atg\/?p=765"},"modified":"2024-08-08T08:28:40","modified_gmt":"2024-08-08T06:28:40","slug":"marc-angelil-2-5-2023","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.fatuk.de\/atg\/marc-angelil-2-5-2023\/","title":{"rendered":"Marc Ang\u00e9lil | 2.5.2023"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<div class=\"wp-block-columns is-layout-flex wp-container-core-columns-is-layout-8f761849 wp-block-columns-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\">\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>HVAC + W &amp; S + E &amp; IT architectura ex machina<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8222;I&nbsp;plan to show five cases from practice done in our ateliers over the past 30 years and foreground the errors made&nbsp;\u2013&nbsp;and what we learned from them&nbsp;\u2013&nbsp;in our&nbsp;humble&nbsp;efforts to move toward a circular paradigm, while&nbsp;gradually&nbsp;trying to decarbonize construction.&nbsp;My&nbsp;focus will be on the mechanical systems&nbsp;and machine&nbsp;assemblies&nbsp;that invade our buildings \u2013 or what&nbsp;the Indian architect&nbsp;Charles Correa called \u201carchitectural pyrotechnics\u201d \u2013 and show&nbsp;how&nbsp;to potentially combine energy-active and -passive solutions&nbsp;beyond greenwashing. Throughout&nbsp;my&nbsp;presentation&nbsp;I&nbsp;intend to refer to Correa\u2019s proposition that form&nbsp;must&nbsp;follow climate&nbsp;to avert the negative effect of buildings on the environment within the socalled&nbsp;Anthropocene, Capitalocene, Urbicene,&nbsp;or&nbsp;Technocene.&nbsp;In so doing,&nbsp;I&nbsp;intend to&nbsp;address&nbsp;\u2013 in view of what French philosopher Bernard Stiegler called the Neganthropocene \u2013&nbsp;the&nbsp;socio-technical-ecological&nbsp;role&nbsp;of architecture&nbsp;as an environment-making&nbsp;practice&nbsp;in our (not always successful) attempts&nbsp;to mitigate its&nbsp;impact&nbsp;on climate \u2013&nbsp;a discourse&nbsp;at the core of&nbsp;our&nbsp;most recent book&nbsp;Flux Redux: 9 Sites of Experimentation in Stocks and Flows&nbsp;that will be released&nbsp;in the&nbsp;summer&nbsp;of 2023&#8220;. (Marc Ang\u00e9lil about the lecture.)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:50px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Prof. Dr. Marc Ang\u00e9lil<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Marc Ang\u00e9lil is a practicing architect and urban designer at&nbsp;agps architecture, a firm with ateliers in Los Angeles and Zurich. Dedicated to nurturing the next generation of architects, he has taught at several universities, including ETH Zurich, Harvard University, and the University of Southern California. Most recently, he held the 2021 Kenzo Tange Visiting Professorship in Architecture and Urban Design at Harvard University. His research focusses on social and spatial developments of metropolitan regions worldwide, as summarized in his most recent scholarly publication Mirroring Effects: Tales of Territory, co-written with Cary Siress \u2013 a book exploring the socio-spatial impact of development-led urbanization on local habitats in different world regions today.<br><br>His built projects, done in collaboration with Sarah Graham, Manuel Scholl, and Mat\u011bj Draslar, include the headquarters extension of the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) in Gland\/Geneva, the Children\u2019s Museum of Los Angeles (CMLA), the Portland Aerial Tram Incorporated (PATI) infrastructure project in Portland, Oregon, the Zurich International School (ZIS), and the midfield terminal at the Zurich Airport(Terminal E). They have received international acclaim, most recently for an off-the-grid ranch in California, including three recognitions from the American Institute of Architects (AIA, Los Angeles Chapter). Their newest book Flux Redux: 9 Sites of Experimentation in Stocks and Flows is framed as a narrative on the ambivalent role of technology in architecture when trying to mitigate architecture\u2019s impact on the environment.<br><br>Marc Ang\u00e9lil is a fellow of the Bund Schweizer Architekten (BSA) and founding member of the Board of the Holcim Foundation for Sustainable Construction.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:50px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>\u00fcber Marc Ang\u00e9lil<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Marc Ang\u00e9lil studierte Architektur an der ETH Z\u00fcrich. Seine Doktorarbeit \u201eTechnik und Form in der Architekturtheorie\u201c wurde mit der Silbermedaille der ETH ausgezeichnet.<br><br>Er unterrichtete an der Harvard University und an der University of Southern California in Los Angeles. Seit 1994 ist er Professor f\u00fcr Architektur und Entwurf an der ETH Z\u00fcrich. Seine Forschung behandelt gegenw\u00e4rtige Entwicklungen im St\u00e4dtebau. Er ver\u00f6ffentlichte mehrerer B\u00fccher, darunter \u201eDeviations \u2013 Ein Handbuch\u201c zur Entwurfsmethodik, \u201eIndizien\u201c zur politischen \u00d6konomie urbaner Territorien und \u201eCidade de Deus!
